<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a hybrid vehicle that can control reverse rotation of an engine when a clutch is engaged at startup of the engine. <P>SOLUTION: The control device of the hybrid vehicle is mounted in the hybrid vehicle, and includes: the engine; a first rotating electric machine; a second rotating electric machine; a power transmission mechanism; a clutch synchronous control means; and a pumping loss control means. The power transmission mechanism includes a plurality of rotation elements which can carry out differential rotation mutually. The clutch synchronous control means carries out control to synchronize the rotation of the engagement element of the clutch based on the torque of the first rotating electric machine before start of the engine when switching the travel mode from a first travel mode to a second travel mode.
