<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sea-island composite fiber in which island components are arranged densely and sea component layers are arranged uniformly in a network form and which is excellent in durability, including wear resistance and chemical resistance.SOLUTION: In a sea-island composite fiber, two or more polymers different in fiber cross section form a sea-island structure, and the ratio of the distance S between island components to the island component diameter R is 0.02≤S/R≤0.10, with a variation of the distance between island components of 1.0-20.0%. The island ratio, based on the weight ratio, is 85-95%, and the island component diameter is 0.2-10.0μm. The single fiber fineness of the composite fiber is 1.0-15.0 dtex, and the strength of the composite fiber is 3.0 cN/dtex or higher. A part of the sea-island fiber is composed of a liquid crystal polyester and/or a polyphenylene sulfide.</p> |
