PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-range wireless communication system for vehicle that accurately detects the position of a smart key even when crosstalk occurs among a plurality of antennas.SOLUTION: A short-range wireless communication system for vehicle comprises: an on-vehicle device including a plurality of antennas and mounted on a vehicle; and a portable device for wirelessly communicating with the on-vehicle device. The on-vehicle device transmits a first burst together with a calling signal to call out the portable device from a first antenna, and transmits a second burst following the first burst from a second antenna. The portable device receives a signal transmitted by the on-vehicle device, measures respective reception signal intensity from the first burst and the second burst included in the received signal, and responds to the on-vehicle device on the basis of the result of threshold determination between the measured respective reception signal intensity and a prescribed threshold value.
