<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus in which a recording medium is securely pulled apart from the ink discharge face of a recording head upon jamming of the recording medium; and to provide a recording medium detachment method in inkjet recording apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The recording heads 31 to 34 provided with ink ejection faces 31A to 34A for ejecting ink are moved relative to a conveying unit 5 for conveying a recording medium while keeping it opposite the ink ejection faces 31A to 34A. Thereby, the recording heads 31 to 34 and conveying unit 5 are separated from each other. Also, a projecting member 36 arranged at a position opposite the recording head 31 to 34 side face of the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit 5 and the recording heads 31 to 34 are moved relatively.
