The present invention relates to a light-emitting device (11) comprising a hollow retro reflector (15) having a reflective internal surface comprising at least three surface segments (17a-c) connected at an apex (18); and a solid state light-source (16a-c) attached to said internal surface of the hollow retro reflector and arranged to emit light towards said apex of the hollow retro refector. Various embodiments of the present invention provide uniform light-output from a relatively simple and cheap light-emitting device.
