<p>The present invention relates to a novel synthetic route to N-(2-chloro-6-methylphenyl)- 2-[[6-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-l-piperazinyl] -2-methyl-4-pyrimidyl] amino]-5- thiazolformamide of the formula I and also relates to the process for the preparation of novel amorphous forms of dasatinib (formula I).</p>
