PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short arc type discharge lamp including: a glass light emission tube; a pair of glass sealing tubes at respective ends thereof; and a pair of opposing electrodes in the light emission tube; with a structure preventing re-crystallization of glass near a metal electrode core wire holding body in each of the sealing tubes with a heat insulation film formed on an outer surface near a border between the light emission tube and each of the sealing tubes by keeping the electrode core wire holding body away from a heat insulation effect of the heat insulation film, which may cause the electrode core wire holding body to be abnormal overheated.SOLUTION: A short arc type discharge lamp is provided with a heat insulation film formed on a light emission tube side away from a tip surface of a metal electrode core wire holding body in a sealing part. |
