<p>The present invention is to provide a method and an apparatus for clearly breaking a substrate which has a convex unit on the surface. The method for breaking a brittle material substrate bends a substrate (W) along a scribing line (S) and breaks the same by pushing a brake bar (9) from the opposite surface with the surface in which the scribing line (S) is formed to the substrate (W) in which a convex unit (1) is formed on one side surface, and the scribing line (S) is formed on the other side surface. A concave unit (9b) in which the convex unit (1) gets jammed is formed in a counterpart of the convex unit (1) of the braked substrate (W) in a straight line-shaped ridge unit (9a) of a front end of the brake bar (9). When pushing the brake bar (9), braking is performed by applying uniform pushing weight to the entire pushing surface of the substrate (9).</p> |
