An antibiotic medicine comprises at least one hydrolytic enzyme having an enteric coating, and at least one orally administrable antibiotic of the tetracycline type external to said coating. Specified enzymes are trypsin, chymotrypsin, papain, bromelin, ficin, pancreatic enzymes, enzymes obtained from mould cultures, e.g. amylases or maltases, from cultures of Aspergillus Oryzae and from bacteria. The tetracycline type antibiotic may be tetracycline, oxytetracycline, or chlorotetracycline. The enteric coating material may be gluten, or a natural or synthetic resin or natural or synthetic resinous lacquer. Specified resins are cellulose aceto-phthalate and polyacrylic resins. Preferably, the medicine is in the form of a pill having a core containing the enzyme(s) enclosed by the enteric coating and an outer zone comprising the tetracycline type antibiotic, but the invention also comprises a package comprising a container including a plurality of tetracycline-type antibiotic dosage units and a plurality of enterically-coated enzyme dosage units.
