PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge lubricating toner in order to prevent toner deterioration, and efficiently supply the discharged lubricating toner, as lubricant, in order to prevent damage to a cleaning blade.SOLUTION: A printing apparatus 1 includes: a rolled recording medium; lubricating toner supply determination means which determines whether to supply lubricating toner to an area other than a toner-image formation area of an image carrier 8, on the basis of a printing rate based on printing data; lubricating toner-image forming means which forms a lubricating toner-image in an area other than the toner-image formation area of the image carrier 8 when the lubricating toner is determined to be supplied; and print control means which executes printing on the rolled recording medium via the image carrier 8 to form a plurality of labels. The lubricating toner-image forming means forms the lubricating toner-image on the image carrier 8 so as to correspond to gaps of the labels and to have a width equal to or larger than the width of the toner image of the image carrier 8 and equal to or less than the width of the image carrier 8.
