摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: composite particles capable of improving charge/discharge cycle characteristics of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, such as a lithium ion secondary battery, furthermore; and a method for producing the composite particles.SOLUTION: Silicon oxide-graphite composite particles according to the present invention include a plurality of scale-like graphite particles and SiOx particles (where 0<x&le;0.9). The plurality of scale-like graphite particles are disposed in layers. The SiOx particles are inserted between the plurality of scale-like graphite particles. When an electrode having an electrode density of 1.70±0.02 g/cmis manufactured from the silicon oxide-graphite composite particles, the ratio of the "intensity I(110) of the peak attributed to the (110) plane" to the "intensity I(004) of the peak attributed to the (004) plane" in an X-ray diffraction image of the electrode is preferably within a range of 0.0010 or more and 0.0300 or less.
