Provided is a method for producing, by fermentation, an L-amino acid from a seaweed-derived carbon source including alginic acid by using a microorganism. This method for producing an L-amino acid by a fermentation method comprises: culturing, in a culture medium, bacteria modified so as to have an L-amino acid production capability and an alginic acid utilization capability, said culture medium including a carbon source obtained from seaweed-derived biomass; producing and accumulating the L-amino acid in the culture medium; and recovering the L-amino acid from the culture medium. |
