A SENSOR FOR DIELECTRIC SPECTROSCOPY OF A SAMPLE

A sensor for terahertz dielectric spectroscopy of a sample (3), such as biomolecules, is disclosed. The sensor comprises a waveguide (1) inductively loaded with a composite dielectric section which comprises a sample holder (4) and a discontinuity (2) separating the sample holder (4) from the waveguide (1). The electromagnetic impedance of the composite dielectric section varies gradually, at least along the propagation direction of the waveguide (1), at least from the onset of the discontinuity (2) towards the sample holder (4).
