PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine operation data collection system capable of preventing increase in a communication cost while keeping reliability of communication.SOLUTION: A work machine operation data collection system for transmitting/receiving data between a server and operation data collection devices mounted on a plurality of autonomous work machines through a fixed station comprises the operation data collection devices and server. The operation data collection device includes: a mobile station communication control unit for communicating with another operation data collection device; a fixed station communication control unit for communicating with the server through the fixed station; an operation data storage unit for storing operation data on a work machine mounting the operation data collection device and operation data on another work machine; and a communication establishment ratio calculation unit for calculating a ratio of communication connection time with the server to a certain time interval. The server selects an operation data collection device whose ratio of communication connection time calculated by the communication establishment ratio calculation unit is highest; and collects operation data on another work machine by relaying an operation data storage unit of the selected operation data collection device.
