PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop post injection when fuel for preventing the clogging of a nozzle port is injected.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine, a hydrocarbon supply valve (15), an exhaust emission control catalyst (13) and a particulate filter (14) are arranged in an engine exhaust passage. During post injection (PI) to raise the temperature of the exhaust emission control catalyst (13) or the particulate filter (14), when the fuel for preventing the clogging the nozzle port of the hydrocarbon supply valve (15) is injected from the hydrocarbon supply valve (15), the injection amount of the post injection (PI) is reduced or the post injection (PI) is stopped. |
