A method and system for assisting in locating objects (for example remote controls, wallets, toys, books and mobile phones) using one or more images from remote devices characterised by initially capturing reference images of the object, then capturing one or more images via the remote devices. The captured remote images may contain the object to be located inclusive of context background 304. The one or more reference images are used to determine whether any of the one or more remote captured images includes the object 306 and if so they are stored and associated with the object 308. The devices may be time synchronised so that the latest of the one or more images may be identified. If the object is lost, the stored images on local and remote devices are reviewed 310 to determine its location. If the location is not determined, then an increasing number of remote devices may be reviewed to determine its location. |
