<p>Prepng. non-alkali metal quinolinolates (I) by reacting a hydroxyquinoline ester with a salt of a metal of Groups Ib, IIa or IIb of the Periodic Classification of the elements. (2) Mercuric 8-hydroxyquinolinate, (C9H6ON)2Hg. (3) Process for dispersing (I) on or throughout a carrier. Antimicrobial agents. (I) are insol. in H2O and substantially insol. in organic solvents. The process enables (I) to be deposited on or throughout a carrier of article to be protected without prior "solubilization" and the deposition to be carried out in a one bath process. (I) used as antimildew agents and protecting agents for cellulose materials, paints, lubricating oils, underground cables, drying oil, and rubber.</p> |
