PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive exhaust muffler for an engine, which can shorten a muffler body in the axial direction, is small in the amount of used sound absorbing material and requires filling work of the sound absorbing material only once.SOLUTION: A muffler body 1 is formed of a cylindrical barrel 2, and first and second end walls 3, 4 closing both axial end faces of the barrel 2. The inside of the muffler body 1 is divided by a partition wall 8 into a first silencing chamber 5 faced by the first end wall 3 and a second silencing chamber 6 adjoining the first silencing chamber 5. An inlet pipe 10 and an outlet pipe 11 are disposed in the first silencing chamber 5 to communicate with each other in the second silencing chamber 6. The inlet pipe 10 is provided with a plurality of first silencing holes 12 opening in the first silencing chamber 5, and the outlet pipe 11 is provided with a plurality of second silencing holes 13 opening in the first silencing chamber 5. Sound absorbing material 17 is filled in the first silencing chamber 5. |
