A semiconductor chip 100 comprising at least: a set of photosensitive elements 104 for forming electric signals on the basis of electromagnetic radiation; and other electronic circuitry; where a surface of the semiconductor chip 100 comprises a first region 102 and a second region 110; where the set of photosensitive elements 104 is located in the first region 102 and the other electronic circuitry is located in the second region 110. The circumference of the first region 102 may correspond with the circumference of a lens. The distribution of the photosensitive elements 104 may be different in different parts of the first region 102. The distribution of the photosensitive elements 104 may be more condensed near the edge of the first region 102 (higher resolution) than at the centre of the first region 102.
