A method and a gas sensor for performing quarts-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy are provided to use wall noise generated on a tuning fork instead of an expensive photo diode used for laser intensity measurement. A gas sensor for performing quarts-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy comprises a light source(1) providing laser beam(2); a detection area(5) which is provided to receive one or more sample gases; one or more first tuning forks(3) providing resonant absorption signal; one or more second turning forks which are arranged in the same line as the first turning fork, serve as resonant acoustic detector, and provide resonant signal proportional to the intensity of the laser beam passing through the sample gases; and a processor(15) for providing the signal related to the presence or concentration of the gas in the detection area.
