The present invention relates to a system and a method for monitoring fire and, more specifically, to a system and a method for delaying the spread of fire in an intelligent building, capable of: generating fire spread prevention information including air-conditioning control information to control an air-conditioning device to rapidly discharge smoke to the outside while delaying fire considering a traveling direction of the fire and the smoke when the fire is detected; properly delaying the fire and discharging the smoke by controlling the air-conditioning device according to the generated fire spread prevention information; and analyzing and guiding a safe fire exit on which the fire spread prevention information is reflected.
