PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element capable of making downsizing of the element compatible with prevention of image quality reduction, an image reading device, an image forming apparatus and an image reading method.SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element comprises: a plurality of light-receiving elements which are arrayed in a main scanning direction and arrayed in a sub scanning direction for each color to receive light and in which electric charges are stored by exposure; and a plurality of A/D conversion parts for converting analog signals indicating amounts of electric charges stored by the plurality of light-receiving elements, respectively, into digital signals for each of a predetermined number of pixel groups each defining the plurality of light-receiving elements arrayed in the sub scanning direction as a unit. In the case where the plurality of light-receiving elements are exposed and store electric charges in different timing in the sub scanning direction for each of pixels within the pixel group, the A/D conversion parts convert the analog signals into digital signals in the order of exposures, and the plurality of light-receiving elements form a part of correction means which performs correction to suppress a difference of the timing in the sub scanning direction. |
