The invention relates to a liquid fuel producing method which synthesizes hydrocarbons from a synthesis gas by a Fisher-Tropsch synthesis reaction and produces liquid fuels by using the hydrocarbons, the method includes subjecting the hydrocarbons to a pretreatment in the presence of a hydrogen by using a catalyst for the pretreatment in which at least one kind of metal selected from metals of Groups 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 14 of the Periodic Table is supported on a carrier; and hydroprocessing the hydrocarbons by using a hydroprocessing catalyst after the pretreatment.
