<p>An encoder (1A) is provided with a rotating plate (4), an LED (5) for emitting light (L1), a polarizer (6) that is irradiated by light (L1) emitted from the LED (5) and emits light (L2) having a prescribed polarization direction in accordance with the irradiation of light (L1), and a light detecting device (7) that detects light (L2) emitted from the polarizer (6). The polarizer (6) is rotated in accordance with the rotation of the rotating plate (4). The light detecting device (7) is provided with a CMOS image sensor (70) having a plurality of pixels and with a plurality of polarization filters (15) disposed on each of a plurality of pixel regions comprising at least one pixel such that polarization filters (15) on adjacent pixel regions have different transmission axes.</p> |
