A formed channel 1 to aid cutting of bread loaves or other dough based baked products may comprise a horizontal base and two vertical flanges 2, 4 containing one or more pairs of symmetrically opposed cutting guide slots 6 dimensioned to limit the axial rotation of a knife but long enough to allow complete cutting of the baked object. The slots 6 may be parallel to the horizontal base such that the cutting plane is horizontal. One or more spacers 8 may be placed upon the base thus altering the depth of cut. The spacers 8 may be formed from die cut extruded fine flute polypropylene. One flange 2 may carry a third horizontal flange 3 forming a hand rest and safety guard to provide protection from a knife passing through the guide slots 6. The other flange 4 may have two dependent stops 5 to abut the edge of a counter top (fig. 3) to stabilise the guide while in use. The base of the channel 1 may have four non slip feet 7 as a further aid to guide stability and to protect the host work surface from damage. The channel may be formed from a laser cut or machined blank of food quality sheet metal or hot wire line bent acrylic. The channel is suited for left or right handed operation. |
