Disclosed is a method for producing high purity alumina in which a reactant is formed by: forming a mixture in which kaolin and a fluorinated material are mixed; and heating the mixture. Through a desilication process to sublimate the reactant, a solid residue formed by ammonium aluminum fluoride is produced, and through a thermohydrolysis process, the solid residue is defluorinated to form aluminum hydroxide. Then, a calcinations process is performed on the aluminum hydroxide to form alumina. |
