PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant applicator or the like, configured to vary a lubricant supply amount with a simple configuration, in a space-saving manner and at low cost so as to cope with an ever-changing variation in lubricant supply amount required for an image carrier or so as to maintain the required lubricant supply amount. SOLUTION: A lubricant 2 pressure mechanism of the lubricant applicator is configured to press the lubricant 2 against the image carrier 100, such as a photoreceptor or a transfer body, and then, apply the lubricant 2 to the image carrier 100, alternatively, press the lubricant 2 against an applying means 3 and then apply the lubricant 2 applied to the applying means 3 to the image carrier 100.
