PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser power sensor with a dual temperature sensor.SOLUTION: Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a heat-assisted magnetic recording enabled write head 201 having a first temperature sensor 145 and a second temperature sensor disposed between a near field transducer (NFT) 140 and a return pole. The two temperature sensors are aligned in a cross-track direction. A sensor output may be used as a feedback control signal. This feedback control signal controls a laser driver so as to perform heat-assisted magnetic recording at a sufficient temperature without damaging the head by pole-tip protrusion or metal diffusion of the near field transducer.
