An independent claim is included for disinfecting at least one equipment for medical use, comprising soaking the equipment in an aqueous solution of the composition and optionally rinsing with water. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The disinfectant and detergent composition is useful for the disinfection of equipments in medical, paramedical, veterinary, pharmaceutical, agroalimentary fields (claimed) or surgical equipments such as grips, scissors, needles, scalpels and lancets, where the medical equipments are endoscopes, tubes and pipes, basins and vats of disinfection; and destroying disease-causing agents such as bacteria, viruses, funguses such as moulds and yeasts, or other microorganisms, in the equipments. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The composition provides excellent bactericidal and biocidal activity, preferably levuricidal activity to the equipments, and has good detergent power. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: The composition further comprises: one or more additional antimicrobial agent, preferably chlorhexidine digluconate, polyhexamethylene biguanide, polyhexamethylene biguanide hydrochloride, N-(3-aminopropyl)-N-dodecylpropan-1,3-diamine, bis-(aminopropyl)laurylamine or enzyme complex comprising protease, lipase and/or amylase; and one or more other nonionic or amphoteric surfactants, preferably alkyl polyglucosides, alkyl polypentosides and/or polyglycosides. The composition is present in the form of an aqueous solution. Preferred Components: The quaternary ammonium salt is of formula (((Ra1)(Rb1))N +>((Rc1)(Rd1))(X ->)), where ((Ra1)(Rb1))N +>((Rc1)(Rd1)) is benzalkonium, benzethonium, methylbenzethonium, cetylpyridinium, cetrimonium, dihexyldimethylammonium, dioctyldimethylammonium, didecyldimethylammonium, didodecyldimethylammonium or N,N-didecyl-N-methyl-poly(oxyethyl)ammonium. The amount of: the quaternary ammonium salt is 1-150 mg/g; and the non-ionic surfactant is 1-200 mg/g.
