The present invention relates to a multipurpose magneto-rheological (MR) damper used for controlling micro vibration and the vibration of a large structure and, more specifically, to a damper for vibration control, which is filled with MR fluid, forms a core having a coil in multi-stages; and forms multiple protrusions for increasing magnetic fields and pressure on the inner circumference of an orifice gap, in which the MR fluid flows, in various shapes to generate yield stress according to the strength of the magnetic fields to be higher than conventional yield stress, thereby controlling various vibrations, such as micro vibration and the vibration of the large structure.
