PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power reduction device and a power reduction method that effectively reduce power consumed in a communication system using an ISDN line.SOLUTION: A power reduction device 11 is provided between lines 100 of a communication system related to an ISDN communication system including a network termination device 300 and a station device 200 that transmits power to the network termination device via the lines 100 and performs input and output of communication signals, and reduces power consumed in the system. The power reduction device 11 includes: a current conduction unit 21 that is connected with the network termination device 300 in parallel and takes in part of current used at the time of communication between the station device 200 and the network termination device 300; and a filter part 30 that is provided between the current conduction part 21 and the lines 100, and transfers current other than current used for the communication signals to the current conduction part 21. |
