PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: A button telephone system consists of a terminal and a main device. The main device has transmission means which transmits an instruction of a shift to a power-saving state together with power-saving duration data being the data indicating power-saving duration during which the power-saving state continues, to the terminal when the time reaches the power-saving state shifting time at which the state is shifted to the power-saving state in which power consumption is further reduced. The terminal has: communication means which communicates with the main device; time measuring means which measures the lapse of the preset time; and control means, when receiving the instruction of the shift to the power-saving state together with the power-saving duration data from the main device, which sets the power-saving duration to the time measuring means, stops the communication means, and starts the stopped communication means when the time measuring means measures the lapse of the power-saving duration.
