Abstract A swage collar (14) including a shank (30) having a first end (32), a second end (34) opposite the first end (32), and an outside diameter, a flange (36) extending circurnferentially from the first end (32) of the shank 5 (30) and having a outer diameter, and a transition step (40) formed at a location where the first end (32) of the shank (30) transitions to the flange (36). When the swage collar (14) is swaged, the transition step (40) is deformed from an undeformed state to a deformed state such that the transition step (40) is blended with the outside diameter of the shank (30) 10 and the outer diameter of the flange (36). The transition step (40) is substantially linear in its undeformed state and is oriented at an angle from a longitudinal axis of the swage collar (14). When the transition step (40) is in its deformed state, the transition step (40) includes a curved portion (54) having a radius of curvature (R) visually indicating a complete swage of the 15 collar (14).
