PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for synthesizing butanol from ethanol with a high selectivity.SOLUTION: The catalyst is for synthesizing butanol from ethanol containing a strontium phosphate apatite (Sr(PO)(OH)) having an Sr/P atomic ratio of 1.5-2.0 with a high selectivity. Provided is also a direct synthetic method of butanol containing a step of retrieving continuously or intermittently at least butanol from a reaction product containing butanol as the main component which is obtained by contacting the catalyst with ethanol at 200-350°C out of the reaction system, and the direct synthetic method of butanol can be effectively utilized particularly in the field of a biofuel and the like. |
