<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent failures such as disposal of a formed toner image due to non arrival of a sheet, by setting an image formation interval in accordance with the state of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a storage unit to store sheets; a sheet feeding unit including a sheet feeding roller; an image forming unit; a transfer unit to transfer the image, which has been formed by the image forming unit, to the sheet; a registration unit to feed the sheet to the transfer unit in accordance with a transfer start timing; a sheet-feeding detector to detect the arrival of the sheet supplied from the sheet feeding unit; and a counting unit configured to, when a counted time as a time counted from starting the rotation of the sheet feeding roller until the sheet is detected by the sheet-feeding detector is longer than a theoretical time, add a value being larger, as the difference between the measured time and the theoretical time becomes larger, to a stored integrated value to update the integrated value.
