Systems and methods for laser based measurement of air parameters are disclosed. An example system includes a source of radiation, an amplification system with one or more power amplification stages, a transceiver, and an optical mixer. The source produces a plurality of beams, and the amplification system is configured to amplify the beams. The transceiver is configured to transmit the modulated beam to, and receive a scattered beam from a target region. The optical mixer is configured to determine a difference between the scattered beam and a reference beam, which is used to determine a Doppler shift therefrom. In certain embodiments, the amplification system includes a fiber preamplifier and one or more fiber power amplifiers stages. |

1. A system comprising:
a radiation source configured to produce a beam; a modulator configured to modulate the beam to produce a modulated beam; a splitter configured to split the modulated beam to generate a plurality of the modulated beam each traveling along parallel light paths; optical amplification systems positioned in each of the parallel light paths to amplify the respective modulated beams, wherein each of the amplification systems comprise a fiber preamplifier and one or more fiber power amplifier stages; a transceiver configured to receive the amplified modulated beams via a first plurality of optical fibers, to transmit the amplified modulated beams to a target region, and to receive scattered beams from the target region; an optical mixer coupled to the transceiver via a second plurality of optical fibers and coupled to the radiation source via a third optical fiber, the optical mixer is configured to: receive the scattered beams from the transceiver, receive a reference beam from the radiation source, and determine a difference between the scattered beam and the reference beam. |
