摘要 568,667. Reducing surface friction on aircraft. UMPLEBY, F. Dec. 7, 1942, No. 17352. [Class 4] Air sucked through openings in the upper surfaces of an aircraft fuselage and wings in order to control the boundary layer is fed to the aero-engine or to a jet propulsion device, the conduits being so arranged that a forward reaction due to the airflow around bends in the conduits is obtained. As shown, air sucked through slots 7, 8 in the upper surfaces of the wings and fuselage flows through conduits 6 having rearward bends 9 to internal-combustion, turbo-blower, jet propulsion units 1, 2, 3. The units 1, 2 may drive propellers 10. The conduits 6 may form part of the wing structure.
