<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alcohol, capable of dimerizing a substrate alcohol in a high yield and a high selectivity even by using a less amount of a base. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the alcohol involves dimerizing a substrate alcohol selected from a primary alcohol and a secondary alcohol in the presence of a copper compound and 0.5 to 40 mol% NaOH based on the amount of substrate alcohol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
