A portable appliance 2 comprising: a body 4 for supporting the portable appliance; a handle 10 for manipulation of the portable appliance; a pump with an inlet and an outlet; a fluid reservoir 16 fluidly coupled to the inlet of the pump; and an electric motor for operating the pump to cause pumping of fluid from the inlet to the outlet when the motor is energized by an electrical power source. The portable appliance comprises a bay 20 for receiving the electrical power source. The bay may have a restraint 22 to restrain an electrical power source received within in the bay and support wheels 6a, 6b for movably supporting the portable appliance. The fluid reservoir 16, the bay 20 and the handle 10 may be integral with the body 4 which comprises a plastic shell. The portable appliance 2 may be a brake bleeder or a clutch bleeder.
