A tachograph arrangement (2), comprising a communication unit (4) disposed in a vehicle (6), a card reader (8) adapted so as to receive a tachograph card (10) and read out tachograph card information from the tachograph card, and so as to transmit a tachograph card information signal (12) containing tachograph card information, which tachograph arrangement (2) comprises a tachograph module (14) that is located external to the vehicle and adapted so as to determine tachograph information in accordance with a predetermined set of rules. The communication unit (4) is adapted so as to receive said tachograph card information signal (12) and one or a plurality of sensor signals (18) containing unprocessed sensor data from one or a plurality of sensors (18) in the vehicle. The communication unit (4) comprises a data-gathering module (20) adapted so as to compile the data package, wherein said data package contains at least time- stamped unprocessed sensor data and tachograph card information, and in that the unprocessed sensor data contains information that is necessary to determine said tachograph information. The communication unit (4) is further adapted so as to establish a wireless communication link (22) with the tachograph module (14), and so as to transfer said data package to said tachograph module (14) via said communication link (22), and so as to then establish a tachograph contact between said communication unit (4) and tachograph module (14) via said communication link (22), wherein a tachograph contact is considered to be established when an identification procedure has been completed and approved. |
