The present invention relates to a silicon oxide-base sintered body for preparation of silicon oxide and a method for preparing the same. The silicon oxide-based sintered body of the present invention, which is characterized by including silicon particles, silicon dioxide particles, and metal except for silicon and having a bulk density of 0.8-1.8 g/cm^3 and a BET specific surface area of 1-30 m^2/g, does not degrade reaction during preparation of silicon oxide, increases a raw material filling rate per unit volume of a reactor, and significantly improves hygroscopic degree to control degradation of a device member caused by moisture, thereby being useful in preparation of stable high quality silicon oxide powder or membrane.
