An internal combustion engine of a hybrid drive vehicle is provided with an exhaust purification catalyst on an exhaust passage. A control device for the internal combustion engine is configured in such a manner as to continuously rotate the internal combustion engine over a prescribed time after being started. Furthermore, the control device for the internal combustion engine prevents a reduction in fuel within a prescribed time from when the internal combustion engine is started, minimizing frequent repetitions of the starting and stopping of the internal combustion engine due to accelerator pedal operations. Meanwhile, the accumulation of oxygen in the exhaust purification catalyst associated with a reduction in fuel is minimized, ensuring exhaust purification performance when the internal combustion engine is restarted. |
