PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor containment vessel cooling system capable of maintaining functions of a reactor containment vessel by cooling and reducing pressure of the inside of the reactor containment vessel when a fuel pool cooling function is lost due to a severe accident and a cooling method.SOLUTION: With a reactor well pool drain outlet valve 11 open and a bypass valve 23 open, a check valve bypass piping 22 is communicated. When a reactor well pool drain stop valve 13 is in a closed state, spent fuel pool water overflows to a skimmer surge tank 5 to be delivered into a first piping 19 by injecting water into a spent fuel pool 3, passes through a bypass piping, a second piping 18, a reactor well pool drain outlet valve and a reactor well pool drain piping 20 to be supplied to a reactor well pool. When the reactor well pool drain stop valve is in an open state, the spent fuel pool water overflows to the skimmer surge tank, passes through the first piping, the bypass piping, the second piping and the reactor well pool drain stop valve to be supplied to a collection tank 9. |
