Provided is a drive device that can efficiently convert the thermal energy of a vertical high-temperature tank and a vertical low-temperature tank into a driving force. In a pair of volume-variable containers (11, 12), the volume-variable container (11) on the side of a vertical high-temperature tank (1) is supported on the front side of a horizontal communicating tube (7) in the moving direction thereof, and the volume-variable container (12) on the side of a vertical low-temperature tank (2) is supported on the rear side of the horizontal communicating tube (7) in the moving direction thereof, and a gas sealed inside the containers is transported by the difference in pressure between the volume-variable container (11) on the vertical high-temperature tank (1) side and the volume-variable container (12) on the vertical low-temperature tank (2) side. A plurality of pairs of volume-variable containers (11, 12) are supported by a travel belt (4) via the respective horizontal communicating tubes (7), and the travel belt (4) travels with respect to a heat-insulating wall (3) due to a difference in total buoyancy (F1 - F2) between the total buoyancy (F1) of buoyancies of the volume-variable containers (11) on the vertical high-temperature tank (1) side and the total buoyancy (F2) of buoyancies of the volume-variable containers (12) on the vertical low-temperature tank (2) side. |
