摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine having a rational configuration and capable of keeping a stable combustion state even if EGR rate is increased to improve further a thermal efficiency and attain a low NOx state.SOLUTION: There are provided fuel supply means 8 for supplying main fuel G to new gas A sucked into a combustion chamber 10 through an intake valve 1 to form mixture gas I and EGR means X for recirculating a part of exhaust gas E discharged out to an exhaust port 14a through an exhaust valve 2 to the combustion chamber 10 as EGR gas. The EGR means X is means for performing an internal EGR for sucking back the EGR gas from the exhaust port 14a to the combustion chamber 10 by opening the exhaust valve 2 at an intake stroke and there is provided combustion control substance supplying means 16 for supplying the combustion control substance composed of at least one of sub-fuel N and combustion activating substance to the exhaust port 14a.
