PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functionalized polymer produced by bringing a functionalizing agent into contact with a quasi-living polymer, and to provide a functionalization method of such kind of polymer.SOLUTION: A functionalized polymer is generated by using a method including a step to generate a quasi-living polymer by using a lanthanide-based catalyst and polymerizing a conjugated monomer, and to make the quasi-living polymer react with a functionalizing agent defined by formula (I) [here, Ris a divalent 0-20C organic group; A is a substituent which may produce an addition reaction with the quasi-living polymer; Z is a substituent which may react or interact with silica or carbon black which is a reinforcing filler; provided that A, Rand Z are substituents which may not protonate the quasi-living polymer].
