PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To level process load applied on reading of a pixel signal in a rolling shutter operation for a dynamic range magnification processing and to simplify timing control.SOLUTION: Synchronization signal generating means generates a short period vertical synchronization signal VDS, and a long period vertical synchronization signal VDL, one period of which is equal to an N period of the short period vertical synchronization signal VDS. Following the short period vertical synchronization signal VDS and the long period vertical synchronization signal VDL, exposure control means performs short period exposure and long period exposure for each predetermined number of lines of an imaging element. For a long period exposure line, the exposure control means starts reading of a pixel signal in synchronization with the long period vertical synchronization signal VDL. For a short period exposure line, the exposure control means starts reading of a pixel signal in synchronization with the short period vertical synchronization signal VDS that does not overlap the read out period Fr_L Readout for a pixel signal of the long period exposure line. |
