<p>A money receipt/payment device (10) is provided with: receiving units (150, 250) for receiving money; discrimination units (140, 240) for discriminating and counting the money received in the receiving units (150, 250); a storage unit (52) for storing a present amount of money received in the receiving units (150, 250); a present amount updating unit (53) for updating the present amount stored in the storage unit (52); an operation display unit (51) for inputting a quantity of replenishment money when money is added for replenishment to the receiving units (150, 250); and a mode switching unit (54) for switching between a first mode, in which the level of management of the present amount in the receiving units (150, 250) is high, and a second mode, in which the level of management of the present amount in the receiving units (150, 250) is low. If the first mode is s elected when money is added for replenishment to the receiving units (150, 250), the present amount updating unit (53) updates the present amount of money stored in the storage unit (52) on the basis of the result of discrimination and counting of money by the discrimination units (140, 240).
