577,803. Vibration-dampers. BIRKIGT, L. Sept. 4, 1943, No. 14479. [Class 108 (iii)] A centrifugal pendulum 3 for vibrationdampers is bifilarly suspended by at least two flexible connections 4 the end portions of which during the oscillations of the pendulum wind and unwind themselves on convex supporting surfaces of the pendulum mass and the rotary member 2. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a plate 2 fixed to the shaft 1 has circular projections 6 around which pass flexible endless bands 4 which also encircle the circular pendulum weights 3. The links 4 may be strips of silk or thin steel, or piano wire, and may be secured to the convex supporting surfaces. Fig. 3 shows a form in which the centres B<1>, B<2> of the convex supporting surfaces 5 fixed to the pendulum mass 3 are laterally displaced, the centres C<1>, C<2> of the surfaces 6 fixed to the rotary member being correspondingly displaced. In this form the convex surfaces are in the form of teeth which interpenetrate each other, the end portions of the flexible links 4 contacting with the teeth fixed to the pendulum mass and the rotary member respectively. Specifications 379,165, [Group XXVI], and 444,222 are referred to. |
