PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of power management for a plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle which alerts a user when the electric vehicle requires imminent charging or battery swap.SOLUTION: A method comprises: a) acquiring a destination; b) acquiring a current vehicle location; c) acquiring a shipping list; d) acquiring a battery level; e) calculating a stop-time and the destination according to the shipping list; f) calculating an amount of electricity that can be charged within the stop-time; g) calculating the electricity needed to go from the current vehicle location to the destination; h) determining if the sum of the battery level and the electricity that can be charged within the stop-time less the electricity needed to go from the current vehicle location to the destination is in excess of a total battery capacity; and, i) instructing the vehicle to enter an electric mode if the sum of the battery level and the electricity that can be charged within the stop-time less the electricity needed to go from the current vehicle location to the destination is in excess of the total battery capacity. |
